Shan Masood Dropped As Pakistan Name Squads For Afghanistan ODIs, Asia Cup 2023

Pakistan national men's selection committee on Wednesday named the squads for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup 2023. An 18-player squad will take on Afghanistan in Sri Lanka from 22 till 26 August and it will be trimmed to 17 players for the Asia Cup. Shan Masood and Ihsanullah have been dropped from the side, which played New Zealand in the five ODIs in April and May to miss out. Also, Saud Shakeel has only been included for the Afghanistan series.

ICC Confirms India-Pakistan World Cup Match Shifted To October 14, Eight Other Matches Rescheduled

Team India's ICC ODI World Cup match against arch-rivals Pakistan has been rescheduled to a different date, while details of eight other matches have also been changed. India and Pakistan were initially scheduled to face each other on October 15. However, the match will now be played a day earlier on October 14. Eight other fixture have been resheduled, including India's game against Netherlands, which will now be played on November 12, instead on Novemeber 11.

World Cup 2023: Updated Official Full Match Schedule And All Match Timings

The ICC on Wednesday announced the updated schedule of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Two of India's group stage matches has seen date changes. The India vs Pakistan match has been shifted from October 15 to October 14. The India vs Netherlands match has been shifted from November 11 to November 12.

Asia Cup 2023: All Match Timings And Full Match Schedule Released

Last month, after much wait, the Asia Cup 2023 schedule was finally announced by Jay Shah, BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head. The timings of the matches were announced on Tuesday. This time the tournament is being played in a hybrid model, after Shah declared last year that India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the event. The tournament will begin with a match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan, on August 30. The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on September 2. India will face Nepal in the other group stage match on September 4 at the same venue.

The Pakistan cricket team skipper earlier revealed that he plans to get ready for the Asia Cup by playing in Sri Lankan conditions and his showing has been quite impressive till now. Babar scored a brilliant century and stitched together a 111-run partnership with Niroshan Pathum Nissanka to guide his team to victory. However, it was his act after the match that has gone viral on social media. In a video, he can be seen asking the organisers to quickly conduct the interviews as he was getting late for his prayers.

Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn, the foreign coaches attached with the Pakistan cricket team, are likely to continue in their respective roles with new chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq conveying to the management that he is comfortable working with them. South African Arthur was appointed as Team Director in April this year by the PCB while Bradburn came as Head Coach in May. However there was speculation that their stints might be cut short in case the cricket technical committee, that includes Inzamam and Misbah-ul-haq, won't give a positive response on presence of foreign recruits on the selection panel.

Pension Suspended Since 2017, Retired Pakistan Cricketer Gets Relief From PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has restored the pension of former Test pace bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz, who had all his payments suspended since January 2017 after making unsubstantiated defamatory statements against former Chairman, Najam Sethi. The ex gratia payments were discontinued as a result of disciplinary proceedings initiated against Nawaz by the previous set-ups of the PCB over his violation of the Code of Conduct under the Players' Welfare Policy.
