Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam Sends Strong Message To Teammates Ahead Of Busy Schedule

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam sent a strong message to his team as they go into a crucial set of matches ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup. Pakistan will take on Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka from August 22 and the Asia Cup will be following in a matter of days. Babar had a simple, yet strong message, for his team ahead of the busy schedule. "My message has always been to believe in yourself and make sure that you give your hundred per cent in the field", read a post on the official X handle of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"Team Is Hungry...": Pakistan Captain Babar Azam Declares Ahead Of Asia Cup

Exuding confidence, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Monday said the team's players are driven by a strong "hunger" for success as they set their sights on clinching the coveted Asia Cup and World Cup titles. Fresh from their 4-1 home series win over New Zealand, Pakistan are currently in pursuit of the top spot in ODI rankings. They may very well dethrone Australia as the world's No 1 side with a 3-0 whitewash over Afghanistan in their Asia Cup build-up series beginning in Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

'BCCI In A Mess, Should've Taken My Advice': Najam Sethi's "World Cup" Dig At India Board

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has taken a dig at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over reports of another change in the ODI World Cup schedule. While the fixtures for the marquee tournament, which will beging in India from October 5, were released last month, the BCCI and ICC decided to reschedule nine matches, including the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan. The fixture, which was scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on October 15, will now be played a day earlier.

Will ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule Change Once Again? BCCI Reacts To Hyderabad Cricket Association Security Concerns

Hosting two World Cup games in as many days is not ideal for organisational as well as security reasons, said a Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) official on Sunday but BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was clear that any further tweak in schedule is "unlikely". After a much-delayed schedule announcement in June, the BCCI and ICC rescheduled as many as nine games earlier this month, including the marquee clash between India and Pakistan. With the Indo-Pak fixture in Ahmedabad advanced by a day on October 15, Pakistan's game against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad was moved to October 10 from October 12. The HCA is also hosting New Zealand versus Netherlands on October 9.

"Messi English Na Boley..." Pakistan Cricketer Gives Befitting Reply To Troll

Cricket is a team game where all the eleven players work as a single unit to put up a strong performance in the match. Players sometimes even carry this unity off the field and share a loving bond among each other. A brilliant example of unity was seen between Pakistan stars Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali, when a fan tried to mock the latter on Twitter and the all-rounder came in support of his compatriot. The 24-year-old Shadab not only defended his teammate but also gave a befitting reply to the troll.

"Ishant Sharma Said One Bad Word, He Received 20...": Ex-Pakistan Star Recalls On-Field Spat

The India-Pakistan cricket matches have witnessed a lot of tense moments over the years and considering the rivalry between the two sides, emotions are generally high when they face each other. While the last bilateral series between the two sides was played back in 2013, their meetings are now limited to continental and ICC competitions. When the two teams faced each other in 2012-13, former Pakistan star Kamran Akmal and veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma were embroiled in a heated exchange which ended thanks to the intervention of MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina.

"We Have A Better Middle-Order Than India": Ex-Pakistan Star's Bold Claim

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali feels that the Babar Azam-led side has a better and a more settled middle-order than India, heading into the Asia Cup and the subsequent. Basit said that India could face issues in the middle-order, something which has been evident in their performances of late. India head into the Asia Cup with both Shryeas Iyer and KL Rahul still undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Rishabh Pant's absence has also created a huge void in India's middle-order.

More Changes In ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule? Hyderabad Police Raises Security Concerns

The ICC World Cup 2023 schedule has already seen a lot of changes in the recent past but it seems like the fixture list can get altered once again. The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has informed the Board For Cricket Control in India (BCCI) that they may find it difficult to host World Cup matches on consecutive days. The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad will host the match between New Zealand and Netherlands on October 9 and on the very next day, Sri Lanka will face Pakistan at the same venue.
