Babar Azam To Meet PCB Chief Following Pakistan's Poor Show In Cricket World Cup 2023: Report

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam arrived in Lahore on Monday following the failed World Cup campaign, with the word going around that he will not voluntarily step down and wait for the the Pakistan Cricket Board to take a call. Babar, who was received by his family members at the Lahore International Airport, looked downcast as he came out of the building surrounded by security personnel. The insider word is that Babar will meet PCB chief Zaka Ashraf this week and will take a call on his all-format captaincy after the meeting. Pakistan, the 1992 champions, failed to make it to the semifinals after an unimpressive run where they lost five of the nine league matches. Babar was first made the white-ball captain in late 2019 and, in 2021, he also took over as the Test skipper. He has led Pakistan in two Asia Cups, two T20 World Cups and the ongoing ODI World Cup without winning any title.

Felt Like A "Third Wheel": England Pacer David Willey On His Retirement

An emotional David Willey has revealed that he felt like a "third wheel" in England's changing room for being the only player in their World Cup squad not having a central contract. The pacer, who is performing at his best right now and grabbed three wickets against Pakistan on Saturday, added that his retirement decision was final. Having been denied a central contract for the 2023-24 season, 'player of the match' Willey announced his retirement after reaching 100 ODI wickets.

England Great's Fresh "Selfish Like Virat Kohli" Dig At Pakistan Post World Cup Exit

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been engaged in an un-ending banter with former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez on social media. Ever since Hafeez branded Kohli ‘selfish' for the tempo of his knock en route 49th ODI ton, Vaughan has been taking a swipe at him at every opportunity. After Pakistan lost their final league-stage game of the Cricket World Cup 2023 against England on Saturday, Vaughan took another swipe at Hafeez and the Pakistan team, suggesting maybe Babar Azam's men need to be ‘selfish like Virat'.

Did Babar Azam Stop Mohammad Rizwan From Celebrating? Social Media Reacts To Viral Video

During Pakistan's last match of Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday, their skipper Babar Azam hogged the limelight for the wrong reason. Pakistan's game which was against England kicked off with captain Jos Buttler winning the toss and opting to bat first. "Expected Babar Azam To Be Top-2 Batter But...": Pakistan Great's Blunt World Cup Admission

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam remains one of the finest batters in the world but his Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign has been far from satisfactory. Babar's poor run of form with the bat has been one of the biggest talking points in the World Cup that saw the Pakistan team put a horror show on the field. Though it is likely that Babar would go on to lose his status as the captain of the team in the coming days, Pakistan legend Wasim Akram doesn't feel Babar should be made scapegoat of the team's World Cup failure. Misbah-ul-Haq, on the other hand, admitted that Babar was expected to be among the top-2 batters in the World Cup but that didn't happen.
