Delhi High Court Restores IOA Ad Hoc Panel Mandate For Wrestling Federation On Plea By Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat

The Delhi High Court on Friday restored the mandate of Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) ad hoc committee constituted for running the affairs of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on a plea by celebrated wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and her husband Satyawart Kadian. following the elections held in the federation in December. The court, in an interim order, said the IOA's decision to dissolve the ad hoc committee was incompatible with Union Sports Ministry's order suspending the WFI shortly after the December elections, while adding that until the suspension order is not recalled, it is necessary for the ad hoc committee to manage the federation's affairs.

Manu Bhaker Wants To Do Horse-Riding After Olympics. "Has To Come Back In 1 Piece," Quips Coach Jaspal Rana

Her shooting hand bruised by repeated pistol recoils during unrelenting training, Manu Bhaker will take a well deserved three month break. But it will be no vacation. The double Olympic medallist will continue her other routines including yoga and waking up at 6 am -- which she hates. And oh yes. She also plans to catch up on her hobbies -- horse riding, skating, Bharatnatyam and violin practice to name a few. The 22-year-old, who won bronze medals in the 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team (partnering Sarabjot Singh), was at PTI headquarters on Friday along with her coach and shooting great Jaspal Rana for a freewheeling interaction with its editors.

Rinse and repeat: Nigeria awaits Los Angeles Olympics after Paris’ N9b, poor outing

Complicit administration, dearth of effective sports federations, failure to invest in athletes’ development, and prioritise the implementation of the National Sports Policy; failure to stop wholesale participation in all the sporting events, and concentrate on those that the country has a comparative advantage in, are part of the legion of demons that are afflicting the country’s sports development. The just-concluded Olympic Games in Paris, France, provided a spectacular opportunity for the country to show how it has failed to learn from past experiences. Apart from the outcome of the sporting ensemble making jest of the Federal Government’s boast that Paris 2024 would show how well the country’s sports has grown in the last couple of years, CHRISTIAN OKPARA reports that the anti-climax has rather shown that it is time Nigeria changed her approach to preparing for and competing in major international championships. It’s Los Angeles’ turn for the torch in 2028. Will Nigeria change its course?

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Hideki Matsuyama lost his wallet, his caddie and his coach for the start of the FedEx Cup playoffs when thieves in London snatched their bag containing passports, but none of that seemed to bother the Japanese star Thursday at the start of the PGA Tour's postseason.
