Two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra finally breached the 90m mark with a stunning 90.23m attempt in the Doha Diamond League men's javelin throw event on Friday. Neeraj, who has won the Olympic gold as well as silver medal, never breached the 90m mark before this event. The celebrated Indian athlete's previous best was 89.94m at the Stockholm Diamond League 2022. Neeraj scripted history by becoming the first Indian athlete to achieve the feat as he came up with a 90.23m throw on his third attempt.

Doha Diamond League 2025, Neeraj Chopra Javelin Throw LIVE Streaming: India's two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra will be aiming to kickstart his bid for gold in the 2025 Diamond League as he participates in the men's javelin throw event at the Doha Diamond League. Neeraj will be competing among 11 participants in the javelin event. The event also features another Indian in the form of Kishore Jena. Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch and Grenada's Anderson Peters will be among the biggest competitors for Neeraj. However, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem is not participating. Besides Neeraj and Kishore, India will have two other participants in the Doha Diamond League. Gulveer Singh will compete in the men's 5000m, while Parul Chaudhary will compete in the women's 3000m steeplechase.

Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finally breached the 90m mark at the Doha leg of the prestigious Diamond League Meeting as he became the third Asian and 25th overall to achieve the feat on Friday. The 27-year-old double Olympic medallist sent his spear 90.23m in his third attempt to join a list of javelin throwers, led by his current coach Jan Zelezny of Czechia, who had recorded 90m-plus efforts. Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem (92.97m) of Pakistan and Chao-Tsun Cheng (91.36m) of Chinese Taipei are the two other Asians to have breached the coveted mark.

Cricket West Indies have urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to give Caribbean nations a chance to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Games and avoid the region being "shut out of history". LA 2028 will see cricket returning to the Olympics for the first time since 1900, with a six-team T20 event in both the men's and women's game set to be included in the programme. The ICC, cricket's global governing body, have yet to announce the qualification process but there are concerns in the West Indies, long one of the sport's established major international teams and the one closest geographically to Los Angeles, that their constituent countries could be excluded.

Neeraj Chopra has been conferred honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army. The appointment, according to The Gazette of India, a weekly public journal and an authorised legal document of the Government of India, came into effect on April 16. “No 3 (E) dated 9th May 2025 in exercise of the powers conferred by Para -31 of the Territorial Army Regulations, 1948, the president is pleased to confer on Ex- Sub Maj Neeraj Chopra, PVSM, Padma Shri, VSM, Village & Post Office Khandra, Panipat, Haryana with effect from 16 April, 2025,” a statement from Major General GS Choudhry, Joint Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, read.
