Defending champion Neeraj Chopra turned on the style as he stormed into the men's javelin throw final of the Olympic Games with a season's best effort of 89.34m in his very first attempt in the qualification round on Tuesday. Much like his performance in the Tokyo Olympics, the 26-year-old crossed the automatic qualifying mark of 84m in his opening throw to occupy the top spot in Group B. The tremendous effort, which is the second best of his career, also set aside concerns surrounding Chopra's fitness after he revealed that he had been battling an adductor niggle in the build-up to the Games. His personal best continues to be 89.94m achieved back in 2022.

International Boxing Association Calls Imane Khelif, Lin Yu-Ting "Male" Amid Paris Olympics 2024 Gender Row

The International Boxing Association (IBA) claimed Monday at a chaotic press conference that tests on two boxers at the centre of a gender controversy at the Paris Olympics show they "are male". The IBA said previously that it disqualified Algeria's Imane Khelif and Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting from its 2023 world championships after the fighters failed gender eligibility tests, without specifying what the tests were. The boxing in the French capital is run by the International Olympic Committee because of financial, governance and ethical concerns at the IBA.

Ashwini Ponnappa's Fiery Reply To Prakash Padukone's Criticism Of Lakshya Sen, Other Stars

Venting out his frustration at Indian badminton stars' near-misses in the Paris Olympic Games, Prakash Padukone on Monday said it's high time that players learn to withstand pressure, become accountable and start delivering results after receiving support.
