Carlos Alcaraz became the latest fancied player to exit the Monte Carlo Masters tournament after he was beaten 7-6 (7/2), 6-7 (5/7), 6-3 by American Sebastian Korda in their second round clash on Wednesday. Alcaraz had arrived on the back of winning the prestigious Miami Masters title but the 18-year-old Spaniard ranked 11 in the world was outgunned by Korda in a thrilling clay court battle lasting just over three hours.

Novak Djokovic crashed out of the Monte Carlo Masters in what was his first match since February as he suffered a three-set defeat to world No 46 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Tuesday. It was the Serb's earliest exit at the clay court Masters in six years and for the first time in the world No 1's career, he suffered nine breaks of serve in a best-of-three set match.
Tennis star Novak Djokovic looked in a good mood as he enjoyed a game of keep-uppies while hanging out with Paris Saint-Germain stars Neymar Jr and Marco Verratti in Monte Carlo on Tuesday. Before his opening game at the Monte Carlo Masters tournament, Djokovic met Neymar and Verratti and indulged with them in a light game which he eventually seemed to have lost. The crowd in Monte Carlo looked visibly awed and were hooked by the presence of the tennis great and both football stars.

Stan Wawrinka marked his return to Tour level competition for the first time in 13 months by showing glimpses of his old form but the Swiss failed to get past Alexander Bublik in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters, losing 3-6 7-5 6-2 on Monday. The three-times Grand Slam champion suffered a foot injury early in 2021 and had surgery in March last year before another operation three months later, only returning to action at a Challenger Tour tournament in Marbella last month.
