Istanbul is among the five venues shortlisted to host the IPL auction which is likely to be held on December 16, according to a BCCI official. Besides the Turkish city and Bengaluru, the usual venue for the auction, New Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad are also in contention. But a final call will be taken when the IPL Governing Council, under new chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, meets for the first time soon.

Rajat Patidar was the unlikely hero for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Eliminator on Wednesday. He scored an unbeaten 112 as RCB scored 207/4 in 20 overs. LSG fell short by 14 runs in the chase. Patidar's innings stood out in the match as he hit 12 fours and seven sixes. Three of those maximums came in the 16th over, bowled by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. One of the sixes flew over deep mid-wicket and had VVS Laxman, former Indian cricket team player and current NCA director, in awe.
The KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants crashed out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator on Wednesday. Chasing a stiff target of 208, LSG had hope till the time captain Rahul was at the crease. He hit five sixes and three fours on his way to scoring a 58-ball 79. His strike-rate was a modest 136.20. Rahul was dismissed in the 19th over by Josh Hazlewood with the scoreboard reading 180/5 in 18.4 overs. Ultimately, LSG lost the match by 14 runs.
