El Atlético ganó en esa campaña 61-62 el primer título europeo de su historia. Pero antes dejó fuera al Leicester. En el Metropolitano, formó con Madinabeytia; Rivilla, Griffa, Calleja; Callejo, Rodríguez; Medina, Adelardo, Jones, Mendonça y Collar.
