Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Smriti Mandhana said on Monday that the Women's Premier League has changed the "conversations" surrounding women cricket and she hoped to see similar success stories in other disciplines. Mandhana had led the RCB to the WPL triumph last year, the team's first title in franchise cricket. “We used to play in the Big Bash League etc even before the WPL, and everyone used to ask us when we would have our own league, and the WPL came and changed the conversations around women's cricket,” Mandhana said during unveiling the report — Sports-Forward Nation.

Indian women's cricket team star Deepti Sharma has accused Delhi batter Arushi Goel of stealing valuable items from her flat in Agra, according to a report. Arushi, who is a junior clerk with the Indian railways, has played with Deepti at UP Warriorz (UPW) in the Women's Premier League (WPL). Deepti alleged that Arush duped her of Rs 25 lakh and broke into into her Agra flat to steal valuables, including gold and silver jewellery and Rs 2 lakh in foreign currency.

Attacking opener Shafali Verma on Thursday returned to India colours after a gap of seven months as she was included in the national T20I squad for the five-match away series against England, starting from June 28 in Trent Bridge. Shafali was out of the Indian team from October 2024 on account of modest form but she could not find a place in the ODI squad for the three-match series against England, which was also announced on this day. India, England Close Gap As Australia Stay On Top In ICC Women's ODI Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday released the updated Women's ODI team rankings. Australia continue to lead the table, but England and India have made gains and closed the gap at the top. According to the ICC website, Australia's lead has narrowed to 40 points from 44 after the annual update. They now have 167 rating points, while England are second with 127 points. India, in third place, gained eight rating points and now sit at 121 -- reducing their gap with England from 11 points to just six.

India Names 24-Member Team For European Leg Of Women's Pro League Hockey

India on Monday named a 24-member team for the European leg of the women's Pro League hockey in June with midfielder Salima Tete as the captain. India will play twice each against Australia, Argentina, Belgium and China in London, Antwerp and Berlin from June 14 to 29. India will begin their campaign against Australia on June 14. Experienced forward Navneet Kaur will be Salima's deputy during the assignment. The team includes goalkeepers Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam.

India Fined For Slow Over-Rate During Women's Tri-Series Opener Against Sri Lanka

India have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Sri Lanka in the Women's Tri-series opener in Colombo, the ICC announced on Tuesday. India had defeated hosts Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the rain-truncated series opener at the R Premadasa International Stadium on Sunday. Vanessa de Silva of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after India were ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration. "In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the ICC release stated.

Pratika reached the 500-run mark in just eight innings, bettering Edwards' nine, during her brilliant knock of 78 against South Africa in the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka during the ongoing tri-nation series. Her knock consisted of seven fours and a six and came in 91 balls. Her runs came at a strike rate of 85.71. Having made her ODI debut against the West Indies in December 2024 at Vadodara, Pratika has scored 572 runs in eight matches at an average of 81.71, with a strike rate of 92.70. She has scored a century and five fifties. Her best score so far is 154, which came against Ireland.
