Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri will be honoured with BCCI's Lifetime Achievement Award on Tuesday. Shubman Gill will be presented with Cricketer of the Year award following a memorable 12 months when he became the fastest to cross the 2000-run mark in ODIs and also scored five hundreds in the format. "He (Shastri) has been chosen for the honour while Gill will be awarded the cricketer of the year," said a BCCI official. The BCCI awards will be held for the first time since 2019 and both India and England teams are expected to be in attendance ahead of the first Test beginning on Thursday.

Team India is all set to face England in the upcoming five-match Test series. The first Test will kick-start from January 25 in Hyderabad. Indian wicket-keeper batter KS Bharat roared to form, making a statement for playing XI selection ahead of the England Test series with a century. Playing against England Lions in a practice Test, Bharat scored 116 off 165 balls as India A looked to chase down the target of 490 runs. While his ton couldn't take the team all the way, with India A remaining 64 runs short of the target, Bharat did make a huge statement with the bat. After reaching the triple-digit score, Bharat also produced a brilliant celebration, dedicating the ton to Lord Ram.

Earlier, Kohli had pulled out of the first T20I against Afghanistan too due to 'personal reasons'. It has, however, not been revealed what the personal situation is that Virat is dealing with.
