Though the issues were sorted, with the player being issued a temporary visa, a lot more needs to be done if Ahmed is to stay with the England squad for the remaining three Tests against India. In the wake of the unexpected development, the England & Wales Cricket Board issued a statement.

India's oldest Test cricketer and former captain Dattajirao Gaekwad died on Tuesday due to age-related ailments. He breathed his last early this morning after battling for life in the ICU of a Baroda hospital for the past 12 days, a source in the family told PTI. He played 11 Tests for India between 1952 and 1961, captaining the national team in 1959 when it toured England.

Another Visa Controversy Strikes, England Star Rehan Ahmed Stopped At Airport: Report

About 10 days after England spinner Shoaib Bashir found himself in the middle of a visa row, compatriot Rehan Ahmed is battling a similar issue. The spinner was stopped from entering India after he and the rest of the England team members had gone to Abu Dhabi during the 10-day break between the second and the third Test. Rehan was reportedly stopped at the Hirasar airport, Rajkot, as he wasn't carrying the right paperwork required for his entry into the country.
