Gautam Gambhir Shuts Down Critics Questioning His Decisions With Powerful '140 Crore Indians' Remark

Head coach Gautam Gambhir didn't mince his words while reacting to the criticism he has faced over the selection of certain players and the batting order lineup after India breezed past Australia to confirm their seat in the final of the ongoing Champions Trophy. Fans have criticised Gambhir and his management for preferring KL Rahul over Rishabh Pant as the first-choice wicketkeeper batter and for fast-tracking young gun Harshit Rana. After India thrashed Australia in the semifinals and booked its place for the Champions Trophy final on Sunday, the Indian head coach was asked about the backlash he has faced over certain decisions. Gambhir replied simply to his doubters and critics: he "doesn't care about it."

"Be It Bill Clinton...": Navjot Singh Sidhu's Surprising Analogy While Shutting Down Virat Kohli's Critics

Former Indian cricket team batter Navjot Singh Sidhu was all praise for star batter Virat Kohli and he called his performances "a tight slap" for people who doubted him. Following his disappointing show in the Test series against Australia, Kohli came under a lot of criticism from both fans as well as experts. However, with match-winning knocks against Pakistan and New Zealand, he has left everyone stunned and Sidhu could not stop hailing him for his performances. Sidhu went on to call him a match-winner and even namedrops former United States President Bill Clinton in his analysis.

Watch: Fan Invades Pitch To Hug KL Rahul After Match-Winning Shot vs Australia. India Star's Reaction Goes Viral

India entered the final of Champions Trophy 2025 after registering a comfortable four-wicket victory against Australia in the first semi-final match on Tuesday in Dubai. Opting to bat first, Australia got bundled out for 264 after skipper Steve Smith scored 73. Later, India lost two two wickets early but Virat Kohli's brilliant knock of 84 and KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya's strong partnership took India home with 11 balls to spare. Rahul, who scored 42* off 34 balls, finished the game in style with a massive six off Glenn Maxwell.

Axar Patel: From Journeyman To India's Man Friday In White-Ball Formats

Kane Williamson stood between India and an all-win record in the Champions Trophy group stage, keeping New Zealand's chase of 250 flickering with a polished 81. Till then batting judiciously, Williamson gave a full-hearted charge against Axar Patel and the slightly slanted delivery evaded his downcoming bat for KL Rahul to complete the stumping. It was the last ball of Axar's spell that read 10-0-32-1, and stood out for its accuracy and the cunningness to maximise his ability in favourable conditions. But the effort understandably went unnoticed in the din surrounding fellow spinner Varun Chakravarthy's five-wicket haul.

"An Incredible Leader": Shikhar Dhawan's Heartfelt Post On Steve Smith's ODI Retirement

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan congratulated Steve Smith for his illustrious ODI career following his retirement from the format and called him a fierce competitor and an incredible leader. Smith, who was the stand-in captain for Australia in the Champions Trophy in the absence of Pat Cummins, played his last ODI against India in the eight-team competition semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday. He will continue to play Test and T20I formats for Australia. India defeated Australia by four wickets to progress to the summit clash where they will face New Zealand on March 9.

Gautam Gambhir Targeted By South Africa Media With 'Hollow Victory' Jibe: "Cringe-Worthy..."

There has been a lot of chatter over the 'hybrid' nature of Champions Trophy 2025 and whether that handed India "unfair advantage" in their campaign. India played all of their matches in Dubai after they refused to travel to Pakistan due to political tensions. However, head coach Gautam Gambhir had a sharp retort to the comments and even went on to call the critics "perpetual cribbers". However, the South Africa media has taken aim at the former India opener and criticised his "cringeworthy arrogance" while stating that even if India triumph in the final, the victory will be "hollow" for Gambhir and Co. In a report published by South African media website iol.co.za, Gambhir was slammed for his comments on the topic and the report went to say that "his arrogance throughout this whole situation is cringe-worthy".

India's Champions Trophy 2025 Semi-Final Hero Used 'More Than Spare Tyre' By Team Management: Navjot Sidhu

India's win over Australia in the Champions Trophy 2025 was not only about Virat Kohli. The India star headlined the four wicket win with a 98-ball 84. But, he found enough support in the 265-run chase in Dubai. Shreyas Iyer (45, 62b) and Hardik Pandya (28, 24b) made big impacts as did KL Rahul (42*, 34b), who stayed unbeaten till the end to take India over the line. Rahul is also India's no. 1 wicketkeeper in the Champions Trophy. While he primarily played in the top order in Tests, he has been used as the No. 6 in ODIs.

BCCI Vice President Shuts Down Pakistan Journalist On CT 2025 Final In Lahore Query: "Australia Should've..."

BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla on Wednesday said it is "very categorical and clear" that resumption of bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan is subjected to Indian government's clearance. The senior BCCI official, who is in Lahore on the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board to watch the Champions Trophy semifinal between New Zealand and South Africa, also said India team doesn't depend on favourable pitches to excel. "As far as you are asking about (cricket) between the two countries, it is very categorical and clear that it is the (Indian) government's decision. Whatever the government of India says, we will go as per them," Shukla told the Pakistan media on Wednesday.
