Mayank Agarwal has been in and out of the Indian Test team since making his debut in 2018. The right-handed opening batter had another opportunity to prove his worth, especially in the absence of KL Rahul, who is currently out of the team due to a hamstring injury. In the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka, Mayank opened the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. Despite getting a good start, Mayank could only conjure 33 runs in the first innings.

The stage was set for Virat Kohli. It was his 100th Test. He was long due for a hundred, close to two and half years to be precise. There was a massive build up with the who's who of Indian cricket sending in their best wishes. The former India captain was presented a special cap by head coach Rahul Dravid minutes before the first Test against Sri Lanka in a short felicitation ceremony in the presence of the Indian squad. It didn't take long for Kohli get into business. When Mayank Agarwal was trapped in front by Lasith Embuldeniya, Kohli didn't even wait for the India opener to make his way towards the dressing room. He charged in. He meant business.

India batter Virat Kohli on Friday achieved yet another milestone after he walked out to bat on Day 1 of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Playing in his 100th Test, Virat also completed 8,000 runs in the longest format of the game. He is only the sixth India batter to have scored 8,000 or more runs in Test cricket, joining an elite list comprising greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman.

Virat Kohli on Friday became only the 12th player to play 100 Tests for Team India. Ahead of the start of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka, BCCI felicitated Kohli on reaching a landmark 100th appearance in Test cricket. Due to the bio-bubble restrictions in place, head coach Rahul Dravid presented him with the commemorative cap and a memento. As Kohli walked out to bat on Day 1 of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka, he was also greeted with a huge round of applause by the crowd at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli formed a formidable partnership during their time at the helm of Indian cricket in the recent years gone by. Such was their domination in Test cricket that the Test team achieved heights never seen before in foreign conditions.
