Jay Shah's Term As Asian Cricket Council President Extended By A Year

BCCI secretary Jay Shah's tenure as president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was on Saturday unanimously extended by a year at its annual general meeting. Shah had taken over the reins of the ACC in January last year from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan, making him the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as ACC president. Addressing the AGM, Shah said the ACC's key focus would be to carry forward the development of the sport in the region.

Asia Cup 2022 To Be Held In Sri Lanka From August 27, Will Be In T20 Format

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday announced that the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup will be held later this year from August 27 to September 11. The tournament will be played in the T20 format while the qualifiers for the same will begin from August 20. "The Asia Cup 2022 (T20 Format) will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August - 11 September later this year. The Qualifiers for the same will be played 20 August 2022 onwards," the ACC said in an official statement.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has rubbished claims of a rift between him and MS Dhoni, saying that he has a lot of "mutual respect" for the veteran wicketkeeper-batter. While agreeing that Rohit has started his India captaincy reign on a high, former Australia spinner Brad Hogg said that the 33-year-old batter is yet to lead the team against top teams like Australia, who later tour India this year to play four Tests. Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar, former India captain Virat Kohli led the wishes on social media. Indian opening batter Prithvi Shaw shared a cryptic post on his Instagram story, amid reports of failing a Yo-Yo test ahead of IPL 2022. Shaw put up an Instagram story around the same time when reports of the right-hander failing a Yo-Yo test at the NCA in Bengaluru started doing the rounds. "Please don't judge me when you don't know my situation. You are creating your own Karma," his story read. News agency PTI reported that Shaw, who is set to turn up for the Delhi Capitals in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, achieved a Yo-Yo score of less than 15. The current qualification mark in Indian cricket for a Yo-Yo test is 16.5.

MS Dhoni Reveals Reason Behind Him Wearing No.7 Jersey

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leader MS Dhoni has opened up on the reason behind him donning the No.7 jersey all his career and it is not because that the particular number is "lucky". Dhoni revealed that he chose the number because he was born on July 7. The 40-year-old also said that he is not a superstitious person in general. Dhoni, who bid adieu to international cricket in 2020, will be seen in action in the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League where he will lead the Chennai Super Kings.

Lately, Shikhar Dhawan's position as an opener in the India's limited-overs setup, especially in T20Is, has not been permanent. The swashbuckling batter did not find a spot in India's T20 World Cup squad last year. The left-hander has managed to hold on to his place in the ODI set-up but has not featured in a T20I since July last year. Speaking to NDTV, Dhawan stated that the decision to include him in the squad rests on the selectors. "If you perform well, the doors are always open. The call lies with selectors, I am enjoying my journey. I have been performing well and I am enjoying my cricket", he said on the sidelines of the launch of Shikhar Dhawan Foundation.
