Long-time Australian men's assistant coach Sridharan Sriram will depart the Australia men's squad to focus on his coaching career in India, an official Cricket australia release stated on Friday. Wicket-keeping legend Adam Gilchrist on Thursday said he wants the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow the Indian cricketers to take part in T20 leagues outside the country. The BCCI, presently, does not allow the Indian players to participate in overseas T20 leagues like Australia's Big Bash League to maintain exclusivity of IPL. "It will be wonderful (if the Indian players are allowed to play in overseas T20 leagues), I personally feel that it won't diminish the IPL, it will only grow them as a brand. If they (Indian players) can play in Australia or South Africa," Gilchrist told reporters.

Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri made a bold prediction, saying that we may soon see two seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in a single year. Batter S Meghana and all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar have tested positive for COVID-19 and stayed back in the country ahead of the side's opener against Australia in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Friday. Indian top order batter KL Rahul will miss the entire T20I series against West Indies as he has been asked to take further rest after having tested positive for COVID-19 last week, sources in the BCCI told NDTV. Rahul had been recovering from an injury which had ruled him out of India's home T20I series against South Africa and the tour of England.
