Team India's squad for the Asia Cup 2023 was announced on Monday with skipper Rohit Sharma and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealing the 18-member squad. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was promoted as Rohit's deputy for the continental event while batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer made their way back into team after battling through their respective injuries. However, the exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal sparked a debate as many former cricketers lashed out at the selectors for ignoring the veteran leg-spinner.

Rahul, on the other hand, has been on the sidelines since picking up and injury during IPL 2023. While Iyer has fully recovered from his injury, Rahul has picked a niggle, but could be back to full fitness before India's second game in the Asia Cup.

All the cricketers who have so far appeared for the YoYo test have passed the cut-off level of 16.5 with Virat Kohli also putting up an impressive 17.2 as per his Instagram story.

It included both Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul who are making a return from injury and were added in the squad for Asia Cup. India will start their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
