India finished second in Pool B behind USA and will now take on Pool A toppers Germany in the semifinals on Thursday. The top three sides from the tournament will qualify for Paris Olympics. "We have learnt from every match. In the first match, we didn't really play well. Our second game was really good and we were in control. This game against was a bit difficult, we struggled a little bit," Schopman said after the match.

Yeager found the back of net in the 17th minute from USA's third penalty corner in their final Pool B match. New Zealand started on a positive note and made some good moves to enter the American circle initially but lost the momentum as the match progressed. After having weathered the early pressure from the Black Sticks, the American got their footing into the match and secured their first penalty corner in the eighth minute, only to be denied by the side bar.

Japan scored a goal each in the first two quarters to beat Chile 2-0 and enter the semifinals of the FIH Women's Olympic Qualifier in Ranchi on Tuesday. Kana Urata (1st minute) handed Japan the lead within the first 23 seconds of the game via a field effort before Miyu Hasegawa (23rd) doubled the scoreline by converting a penalty corner. Japan, thus, finished second in Pool A with seven points from three games. World no.5 Germany too have seven points but ended on top of the pool by virtue of better goal difference.
