The team, amid calls for racial justice and a threatened loss of sponsors, dropped their longstanding previous name Redskins in mid-2020 following a years-long campaign from critics. The Commander's name was the end result of an 18-month rebrand process that the team said included more than 40,000 fan submissions, countless surveys, focus groups and meetings. "As an organization, we are excited to rally and rise together as one under our new identity while paying homage to our local roots and what it means to represent the nation’s capital," Team co-owner Dan Snyder said in a news release.

China's lone goal was scored from a field effort by Xue Deng in the 43rd minute. With the win, the Indian women's hockey team moved to the third position in the FIH Pro League points table, with three points and a goal difference of plus six.
PR Sreejesh becomes second Indian to win World Games Athlete of the Year Award
PR Sreejesh on Monday won the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year for his 2021 performances, becoming only the second Indian to receive the accolade. In 2020, Indian women's hockey captain Rani Rampal became the first Indian to win the honour for her 2019 show. Sreejesh beat competition from sport climber Alberto Ginés López of Spain and Italy's wushu player Michele Giordano for the award.

I did have a positive vibe, that there is a chance for me to win this. Definitely Rani showed it last time. She had a huge difference in the number of total votes. So I believed that I would get it.
