Harshit Rana Snubbed From Champions Trophy India XI By Legend. "Not As Good As..."

Australian great Ricky Ponting will pick Arshdeep Singh over Harshit Rana for India's Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh here on Thursday with the Rohit Sharma-led side hoping to fill the huge void left by injured pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Rana has done alright in the chances he has got ahead of the ICC event but Ponting feels the left-arm pacer Arshdeep is better suited to bowl in all phases of the 50-over game. "I would go with the left-armer and I'd go with Arshdeep (to replace Bumrah)," Ponting said on The ICC Review.

Setback For Gautam Gambhir's Protege At Champions Trophy, Compatriot 'Way Ahead' In Playing XI Race: Report

Harshit Rana has been the flavour of the season as far as India's emerging crop of fast bowlers is concerned but one of head coach Gautam Gambhir's finds is unlikely to start in India's playing eleven in the Champions Trophy with Arshdeep Singh still considered way ahead in terms of talent and quality. The Indian team management gave Harshit all three ODIs against England, and if one is absolutely fair to the burly 6-feet-2-inch tall Delhi speedster, he has not looked out of place.

"This Is Not T20 Or A Party": Jasprit Bumrah's Champions Trophy Replacement Sent Big Warning

While Team India appear to have hit their stride at the right time just ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 - having battered England 3-0 at home in an ODI series - they will still face the problem of having to replace Jasprit Bumrah during the main tournament. Bumrah, unquestionably India's pace spearhead, has not been able to recover from a back issue in time for the tournament. Former England coach David 'Bumble' Lloyd stated that left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, set to replace Bumrah in India's playing XI, will have to significantly adjust from T20I cricket to ODI cricket.

The recent turn of events in the Indian ODI team has been quite dramatic. Another surprise awaited the Indian cricketing spectrum as opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dropped for mystery spinner Vaun Chakravarthy, courtesy of the latter's exemplary performances in the T20I assignment against England.

"Dimaag Kidhar Hai Tera?" Rohit Sharma Tears Into India Star Harshit Rana Over Needless Act. Watch

India captain Rohit Sharma scolded young pacer Harshit Rana after his needles act in the ongoing second ODI against England in Cuttack. The incident happened on the penultimate delivery of the 32 over as Harshit's wild throw cost the team four extra runs.
