Politicians in Northern Ireland have united behind calls for three banned gymnasts to be allowed to compete at the Commonwealth Games, saying the decision by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) contravenes the Good Friday Agreement.

The SAI said, if required, it will set up a committee to probe the matter. In a letter written to GFI president Sudhir Mittal, a copy of which was marked to SAI, Kumar said he "faced injustice” at the selection trials held between March 11-22 .

An international gymnastics body has suggested that three gymnasts from Northern Ireland change their Irish registration in order to compete at the Commonwealth Games in July.
Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Friday formed a three-member committee to investigate leading gymnast Aruna Budda Reddy's complaint. The two members of the committee headed by Radhica Sreeman are deputy director (operations) Kailash Meena and SAI coach Kamlesh Tiwana. The fitness test on Aruna was conducted prior to the gymnast’s participation at the FIG Apparatus World Cup in Baku in March in the presence of a six-member committee. Aruna has levelled allegations against SAI coach Rohit Jaiswal, who was a member of that committee. According to Aruna, the clinical assessment test conducted on her injured knee by a doctor was filmed by “one of the trainees of Jaiswal” at Jaiswal's behest on a mobile phone without obtaining her consent. The assessment, which took place on March 24, lasted for around 10 minutes.
The Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) also said that it had set out its current position in writing to both UK and Irish sports authorities as long ago as 2017.
