Silver-medalist at Tokyo Olympics 2020, Ravi Kumar Dahiya won't be travelling for the Asian Games 2023 as he was knocked out of the wrestling trials by Maharashtra's Atish Todkar by 20-8 at the Indira Gandhi Arena on Sunday. Olympic and World medalist, Ravi Dahiya crashed out in the first round of wrestling selection trials for the acclaimed tournament. Dahiya started wrestling in his early teens and won the silver medal in the 2015 Junior World Wrestling Championships at Salvador de Bahia in the 55 kg freestyle category.

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia's Asian Games Trials Exemption Allowed By Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court on Saturday refused to interfere with the exemption granted to top wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia from Asian Games trials. Justice Subramonium Prasad dismissed the petition by Under-20 World Champion Antim Panghal and Under-23 Asian Champion Sujeet Kalkal against the direct entry allowed to Phogat and Punia to participate in the tournament.

The IOA appointed ad-hoc committee has decided to conduct the Asian Games wrestling trials behind closed doors after parents of some of the wrestlers got into a heated argument with panel members at the IG Stadium on Friday. Frayed tempers and heated exchanges was the order of the day as angry wrestlers and their family members threatened to boycott the trials in protest of the exemption given to Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia (65 kg) and world medallist Vinesh Phogat (53 kg).
