SINGAPORE: Chinese Olympic champion Sun Yang made a victorious return at a major domestic swimming meet on Sunday (Aug 25), his first competitive race after the expiry of a four-year ban for doping.
Four Gold Medals For India At U17 World Wrestling Championships, Women Wrestlers Shine
Women wrestlers continued to raise the Indian tricolour high at the ongoing U17 World Wrestling Championships on Thursday as four gold medals were secured by the contingent. For India, Mansi Lather (women's freestyle 73 kg), Pulkit (women's freestyle 65 kg), Neha Sangwan (women's freestyle 57 kg) and Aditi Kumari (women's freestyle 43 kg) secured gold medals, as per Olympics.com. So far, India has secured six medals in the competition, including two bronze medals by Ronak Dahiya (greco-roman 110 kg) and Sainath Pardhi (greco-roman 51 kg).

Hopes of being honoured with a silver medal did arise after Vinesh challenged the decision at the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS), but that verdict also went against her. Though the Paris Games produced quite a dramatic and bitter turn in her career, Vinesh is still seen as a winner back home.

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had a heartbreaking end to her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign as she was disqualified from women's 50kg freestyle wrestling final for being 100gms overweight. Later, the 29-year-old wrestler even made an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to be considered for a joint-silver medal. However, her appeal was also rejected and she had to returned home without any medal. But on a lighter note, Vinesh received a grand welcome from her family and fans after she returned to her home town in Haryana.
