BIRMINGHAM, England :Swimmer Emma McK aeonbecame the most successful Commonwealth Games athlete of all-time on Sunday, leading an Australian sweep of the women's 50 metre freestyle to claim a record 11th gold medal.

Plymouth swimmer Ben Proud said his Gold medal in the 50m Butterfly at the Commonwealth Games completed an eight-year legacy. The 27-year-old continued his stunning 2022 in Birmingham in setting a Games record in winning the title in 22.81 on Saturday night. Tzen Wei Teong of Singapore took the silver medal in 23.21. Cameron Gray of New Zealand winning the bronze in 23.27.

Scotland swimmer Duncan Scott beat English rival and friend Tom Dean in the 200m freestyle at the Commonwealth Games. Scott recorded a time of 1:45.02s to win the 200m but then secured a 400m individual medley bronze at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre. Duncan Scott claimed revenge on Tom Dean by beating him to victory in the men’s 200 metres freestyle final at the Commonwealth Games, as Adam Peaty kept on course for a third consecutive gold in the 100m breaststroke.
World record-holder Peaty, who has dominated his event in recent years, was forced to miss last month's world championships in Budapest due to the injury. But he looked sharp at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre on Saturday, qualifying for the semis in a time of 59.92sec, with Australian pair Sam Williamson and Zac Stubblety-Cook the next quickest. Peaty, 27, said his swim had "blown the cobwebs out" as he bids for England's first gold in the pool in Birmingham to slow Australia's charge.
