Dani Carvajal Seals Real Madrid's Wild Comeback Win Over Almeria

Real Madrid produced a controversial comeback to beat winless Almeria 3-2 on Sunday and moved provisionally top of La Liga. Dani Carvajal rammed home the winner in the 99th minute to settle a wild and hugely entertaining clash at the Santiago Bernabeu where Mafrid had trailed 2-0. Almeria took a two-goal lead in the first half through Largie Ramazani's 38th minute strike and a screamer from Edgar Gonzalez. However Madrid battled back to triumph as Jude Bellingham converted a penalty and Vinicius Junior used his upper arm to divert home an equaliser, before Carvajal's last-gasp winner.

Advantage Bayer Leverkusen As Werder Bremen End 16-year Wait For Bayern Victory

Mitchell Weiser stunned his former club with the only goal as Werder Bremen defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 on Sunday, keeping Bayer Leverkusen seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Bayern were last held scoreless in the league in February 2020, when former Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann's Leipzig recorded a 0-0 draw at the Allianz Arena. Bremen's victory, their first over Bayern in any competition since 2008, broke a 27-game winless run against the German champions, which included 26 losses.

'Stand Up To Racism': AC Milan Keeper Mike Maignan

AC Milan's French goalkeeper Mike Maignan on Sunday called for clubs, fans and the legal system to stand up to racism in football after he was the target of abuse in an Italian Serie A match. Maignan talked of a mob mentality that shrugged off responsibility as a factor that allowed the phenomena to continue in contemporary society. "It is easy to act in a group, in the anonymity from the stands. "The spectators who were in the stand, who saw everything, who heard everything, but who chose to remain silent, you are complicit," said the goalkeeper in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Mali Stay Top, Tunisia Back In Contention After Drab AFCON Draw

Mali stayed top of Group E and Tunisia clawed back into contention for a last-16 place after a 1-1 draw in a drab Africa Cup of Nations clash that petered out following a lively start on Saturday. Lassine Sinayoko gave Mali an early lead that was cancelled by Hamza Rafia midway through the first half in Korhogo. But the clash of two top 10-ranked teams in Africa provided little other excitement as Mali sought revenge for a 2022 World Cup play-off loss to Tunisia. Mali have four points, Namibia three, Tunisia one and South Africa none, with the two southern Africa nations meeting on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo Trolled With Kylian Mbappe Image After Controversial 'Ligue 1' Take

Legendary Portugal football team star Cristiano Ronaldo made a sensational claim at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai when he said that the Saudi Pro League is 'more competitive' than Ligue 1. Ronaldo joined Saudi club Al-Nassr in 2023 amid a major influx of investment in football in the country that included other big-money transfers for players like Neymar, Riyad Mahrez, Fabinho and Sadio Mane. The star footballer went on to say that he thinks that the Saudi Pro League has overtake Ligue 1 (the top flight of French football) and it is a much more 'competitive' competition.
