Hibs are no different. Throughout the month of January, in the winter transfer window, eight first-team players were integrated into the first-team squad – Rocky Bushiri, Harry Clarke, Ewan Henderson, Sylvester Jasper, Elias Melkersen, Demi Mitchell, Chris Mueller and Dylan Tait – while a further nine left on permanent or loan deals.
India registered a 3-0 clean sweep against the West Indies in Rohit Sharma's maiden tryst as a full-time white-ball captain but even the biggest of Team India fans would agree that there are multiple holes to be filled in the limited-overs set-up. Despite India's dominating performance just a week back in the ODIs, one is likely to give it a second thought before betting on them to repeat the same in the T20I series beginning in Kolkata on Wednesday. Partly it is because of West Indies' reputation of performing far better in the T20Is compared to the other formats but largely it is because of India's indifferent form in the shortest format of late. Not too long ago, India failed to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup last year. With about eight months to go for another global event, this time in Australia, India have handful of games to figure out their best possible side to pose a threat to the likes of England, Australia and New Zealand.
MUMBAI : India will use the three-match home series against West Indies to identify players for this year's Twenty20 World Cup in Australia and work towards building a bigger talent pool, captain Rohit Sharma said on Tuesday.
India white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma on Tuesday said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is over and the focus of everyone on his side should be on the colour 'blue' and the mission should be to do best for the country. India and West Indies will lock horns in three T20Is beginning Wednesday and the focus will be on the brand of cricket India play, having witnessed disappointment in T20 World Cup 2021. The Men in Blue also need to develop a core nucleus that will play for them in the T20 World Cup 2022, Australia.
It's very much a case of all change, changed utterly in this GAA season of 2022. The championship comes hot on the heels of the conclusion to the Allianz Leagues. The men's All-Ireland finals will be played in July. The sun the highest it has ever been for the awarding of Liam and Sam.
Batting coach Rathour prefers Rishabh Pant in the middle-order for West Indies T20IsKOLKATA: It's almost eight months to the next T20 World Cup and the Indian team management has the global event in mind as they begin the three-match T20 International series against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens here on Wednesday. The team think-tank will get more than 10 T20I matches apart from the India Premier League (IPL) and the Asia Cup series to sort out its final squad for the T20 WC in Australia.
Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed any suggestion that Kylian Mbappe's focus on Tuesday's Champions League last-16 first leg between Real Madrid and Paris St Germain could be affected by a potential move to the Spanish side. PSG turned down an offer of around 160 million euros ($180.98 million) from Real for Mbappe last August, even though the player had less than a year left on his contract. The France striker, 23, is widely expected to move to Real on a free transfer at the end of this season after resisting an offer to sign a new contract with PSG. "Every player in the game will be 100% focused on knocking out a team who can compete with them to win the Champions League," Real coach Ancelotti told a news conference on Monday before the fixture at the Parc des Princes. "Mbappe will be thinking the same as Karim Benzema or Vinicius. Everyone has the same aim." Ancelotti said he will wait until the day of the game before deciding whether or not to start top scorer Benzema, who has been out of action for three weeks with a hamstring injury but returned to training on Sunday and was selected in the squad.
