Yoshimura SERT Motul tweaks EWC line-up as Watanabe gets full Suzuka 8 Hours call
Title-winning Japanese squad Yoshimura SERT Motul will contest its home round of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship with a tweaked rider line-up. Having excelled in the opening two events of the EWC season, Gregg Black will take on the fourth rider role, leaving home hero Kazuki Watanabe to join forces with Sylvain Guintoli and Xavier Siméon in the main line-up for the Suzuka 8 Hours.

After failing to go the distance in the 24H SPA EWC Motos due to a technical issue, the ERC Endurance-Ducati team’s riders have reflected on a frustrating second round of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship. David Checa, Xavi Forès and new recruit Chaz Davies managed to complete 280 laps of the 6.985-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps but were forced to retire after 11 hours and 45 minutes due to ongoing problems with the Ducati Panigale V4R’s fuel pump system, which was changed twice during the race albeit to no avail.

Xavier Siméon’s bid for a famous home win when the FIM Endurance World Championship visited his native Belgium for the 24H SPA EWC Motos earlier this month was knocked off course by a technical issue that “never happens”. Yoshimura SERT Motul had been on top after 10 hours only for Sylvain Guintoli to be forced to pit for a replacement clutch and gearbox for his Bridgestone-equipped Suzuki GSX-R1000R after faults developed. The work took more than 25 minutes to complete.
