Indian shooting ace Manu Bhaker on Saturday admitted she was a bit nervous during the 25m sports pistol final as she finished fourth to miss out on an unprecedented third individual medal at the Olympics on Saturday. The 22-year-old had earlier bagged two bronze medals, in women's 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team event partnering Sarabjot Singh. "I got like really nervous about it, but again, I was trying my best to keep calm and to just try to do my best. But that was not enough," Manu said after the event. Manu looked dejected after she aggregated 28 in the eight-shooter final but lost to eventual bronze medallist Veronika Major of Hungary in the shoot-off.

Sports fans at a Taipei bar burst into applause when Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting was declared winner in her opening Olympic bout -- a victory that comes as controversy around her gender stirs heated debate. Lin and Algerian Imane Khelif are at the centre of a global row over their participation in the Paris Olympics after previously being disqualified from an international competition for unspecified "eligibility criteria", prompting some to claim they were men, or transgender, fighting in divisions for women.
Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has warned his players they will need to win the fight if they are to win the match against ‘huge competitor’ Scott Brown and his Ayr United side in today’s Championship opener.
One of the boxers at the centre of a gender controversy at the Olympics comfortably reached the quarter-finals Friday, as fellow fighters and public figures weighed into the furore. Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting beat Sitora Turdibekova from Uzbekistan on a unanimous points decision in the women's 57kg class in her opening bout in Paris. The 28-year-old Lin is embroiled in a political punch-up over her eligibility, along with fellow boxer Imane Khelif, after the Algerian beat her Italian opponent in just 46 seconds on Thursday. Khelif and Lin both fought at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics without controversy.
