AIFF imbroglio: FIFA firm on 'eminent' players stand, ministry responds to CoA

FIFA has informed the sports ministry that it remains firm in its opposition to individual members' inclusion in the electoral college for the upcoming All India Football Federation's (AIFF) elections. Seeking clarity on FIFA's demands and the sports ministry's stand on the Indian football imbroglio, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Monday received a communication from the ministry, sources in the know of things said.

While the Returning Officer for the election has released the first list of 67 voters which includes representatives from 31 state units and 36 "eminent" footballers, the quantum of ex-players might not go down well with world football's governing body FIFA. Hence Bhutia wants to wait till the final electoral list is published in a few days' time.
