No time to rest as BRC chief vows to keep working hard in WTCR
Gabriele Rizzo has no plans to put his feet up just yet as he prepares to oversee BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse’s bid to remain on top in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup at Anneau du Rhin this weekend. Rizzo, the Team Principal of the WTCR title-winning outfit, guided Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz to back-to-back WTCR Drivers’ crowns in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
WTCR pace brings Tassi relief
Attila Tassi’s high-pace performances during the last two WTCR – FIA World Touring Cup events have brought new hope for the Hungarian rising star. Tassi took a first podium of 2022 at WTCR Race of Portugal in July before going on to challenge for a top-three placing at WTCR Race of Italy later in the month.
WTCR on track in Alsace GrandEst
WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup drivers and their teams ramped up their final preparations for the inaugural WTCR Race of Alsace GrandEst with a one-hour test session at Circuit l’Anneau du Rhin this evening. And this is Tom Coronel, who starts the event on the back of his season-best weekend in Italy last month, putting his Comtoyou DHL Team Audi Sport-entered Audi RS 3 LMS through its paces on the challenging layout.
WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup update
Discovery Sports Events and the FIA are surprised by the decision of Cyan Racing and Geely Group Motorsport to discontinue their participation in the 2022 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, which was not expected in light of extensive dialogue between the FIA, Cyan Racing, Geely Group Motorsport, Goodyear and WSC to address concerns following the tyre issues that occurred during WTCR Race of Italy. During positive discussions on Friday between the FIA, Geely and WSC, measures proposed by the FIA and WSC included reducing the compensation weight of all WTCR cars by 20 kilograms, Goodyear’s proposal of the organisation of an additional test at Anneau du Rhin this evening to give all teams the opportunity to run Goodyear’s recommended settings on a track where Cyan Racing tested earlier this year, along with other teams, without reporting any tyre-related issues. Ad/> In addition to its support of this additional test and the analysis conducted to ensure that the tyres work well on this circuit, Goodyear offered to replace the carry-over tyres from the previous event.
Guerrieri can’t wait to get his WTCR satisfaction
New tracks are a great way to get satisfied in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup. That’s according to ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport’s Esteban Guerrieri who can’t wait to push to the limit at Circuit l’Anneau du Rhin this weekend. Argentine Guerrieri tested at the WTCR Race of Alsace GrandEst venue earlier this season but illness limited his time behind the wheel of his Goodyear-equipped Honda Civic Type R TCR.
