British Indian Teen Completes Solo English Channel Swim For Charity

A British Indian schoolgirl who recently turned 16 has made history as one of the youngest to cross the notoriously choppy English Channel to raise funds for a charity fighting against childhood hunger across India and the UK. Prisha Tapre, a pupil at Bushey Meads School in north London, was motivated by a family discussion about the English Channel to take on the challenge when she was just 12. After four years of training, she went on to complete the 34-kilometre swim from the coast of Dover in England to Cap Gris Nez in France last week in 11 hours and 48 minutes. “It was quite choppy at the start, but when the sun started to rise, I knew that the worst bit was done with,” said Tapre, reliving her mission in an interview from her home at Watford in Hertfordshire.

Sri Lanka Beat England By Eight Wickets, Register First Test Win On English Soil Since...

Pathum Nissanka's superb unbeaten century guided Sri Lanka to an eight-wicket win over England in the third Test at The Oval on Monday. Sri Lanka, set a target of 219, reached that total for the loss of two wickets before lunch on the fourth day, with opener Nissanka 127 not out and veteran Angelo Mathews 32 not out in an unbroken partnership of 111. Victory for Sri Lanka ended a run of seven straight Test defeats by England and was their first on English soil since 2014.

208 Balls, 4 Runs: English Father-Son Duo Rise To Fame After Hilariously Slow Innings

The record of the most balls faced without scoring a single run in Tests is held by former New Zealand pacer Geoff Allott, who did not score a run despite facing 77 balls. That innings, against South Africa in Auckland in 2006, also holds the record of the least runs scored per minute in Test history, with Allott having batted 101 minutes. However, both of these records would seem paltry to what father-son duo Ian and Thomas Bestwick put up in a valiant display of old school first-class cricket - the art of defensive batting.
