Antonio Conte has left Tottenham "by mutual agreement" after 16 months in charge, the Premier League club announced on Sunday. His departure comes after the Italian's extraordinary post-match rant following a 3-3 draw at Southampton on March 18, a game in which they blew a 3-1 lead. The 53-year-old, who took over in November 2021, will be replaced by his assistant Cristian Stellini until the end of the season. "We can announce that head coach Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual agreement," a club statement read.
Manchester United's owners were Thursday awaiting fresh bids from a Qatari banker and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe after the deadline passed for revised offers to buy the Premier League giants. Reports said bidders were initially told they had until 2100 GMT on Wednesday to submit new bids, but that has now been extended. It is unclear when the new cut-off will be. Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank, and Ratcliffe, the founder of chemicals giant INEOS, are the only bidders who have gone public with their intentions.
Arsenal surged eight points clear at the top of the Premier League as Bukayo Saka's brace inspired a 4-1 rout of Crystal Palace on Sunday. Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring in the first half at the Emirates Stadium to put the leaders on course for a sixth successive league victory. It was redemption for Martinelli, whose missed penalty condemned Arsenal to Europa League last 16 defeat in their shoot-out against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday. Mikel Arteta's side needed just 45 minutes against struggling Palace to erase the bitter taste of that loss. Saka followed Martinelli's goal by doubling Arsenal's lead before half-time.
Alejandro Garnacho has vowed to come back "stronger than ever" after being ruled out for Manchester United and world champions Argentina due to an injury suffered against Southampton on Sunday. The 18-year-old forward was withdrawn 17 minutes after stepping off the bench in the second half of United's 0-0 draw following a challenge by Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters. Garnacho, who left Old Trafford on crutches, said on Instagram that he will miss "upcoming games" for United and will not be joining up with Argentina's squad for friendlies against Panama on March 23 and Curacao three days later.
