Manchester United have announced the appointment of highly sought after manager, Ruben Amorim as the side's new head coach on a two and a half year contract which has tied him at Old Trafford till June 2027. “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men's first team, subject to work visa requirements. “He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November,” read the statement by Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim is expected to be confirmed as Manchester United's new manager on Thursday after the club reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon, reports said. The Athletic said the 39-year-old would stay with the Portuguese league leaders for their next three games, including next week's Champions League match against Manchester City. He is expected to take charge at Old Trafford during the November international break, with his first game set to be United's away trip to Ipswich on November 24.
Manchester City are grappling with a deepening injury crisis following their 2-1 League Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, with winger Savinho and defender Manuel Akanji the latest to join an already lengthy list of sidelined players. Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes that his former club may be rushing into signing Ruben Amorim and compared the hype surrounding the Portuguese head coach to that of Erik Ten Hag when he joined in 2022.
