Graham Thorpe Appointed Afghanistan's New Head Coach

Axed over England's Ashes debacle, former batter Graham Thorpe was on Tuesday appointed as Afghanistan's new head coach. Thorpe was one of three people to lose their jobs in the wake of England's disastrous Ashes campaign Down Under along with head coach Chris Silverwood and managing director Ashley Giles. Thorpe, who played 100 Tests for England between 1993 and 2005, was announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board as the full-time replacement for Lance Klusener, who stepped down in November after a two-year tenure.

Joe Root Should "Step Down" As Captain, Says Ex-England Skipper

Joe Root should step down as England Test captain following his side's series loss to the West Indies, former skipper Michael Vaughan told the BBC. Root's position is under the spotlight after a 1-0 series defeat which came on the back of a woeful 4-0 Ashes thrashing by Australia. That extended England's poor run to four successive Test series defeats. The 31-year-old Yorkshire star batter has skippered England in a record 64 Tests, winning 27 games -- more than any other captain -- but lost 26, which is also more than any other captain.

"End Of The Road As Captain": Ex-England Skipper's Damning Assessment Of Joe Root

The England men's cricket team suffered their sixth defeat in the last 10 Tests when they went down by 10 wickets against an inspired West Indies team in Grenada. Having drawn the first two Tests of the series, England were comprehensively beaten by the hosts, who rattled the English batting line-up in both innings of the Test to inflict a series loss. This woeful Test form has brought skipper Joe Root under the radar once again for all the wrong reasons. If a 4-0 Ashes drubbing wasn't enough, Root is now under immense pressure following the series defeat in the Caribbean.

"Was This Extras Guy Unavailable": Wasim Jaffer Trolls Michael Vaughan With Hilarious Twitter Post After England's Batting Disaster In 3rd Test vs West Indies

The England men's cricket team suffered yet another batting collapse in the third Test to surrender the three-match series 1-0 to hosts West Indies. England were thrashed emphatically by 10 wickets as the batters found themselves clueless against inspired bowling performances from the West Indies bowlers in both the innings. The defeat meant England lost the series 1-0 under the leadership of skipper Joe Root and were pushed to the bottom spot in the latest updated World Test Championship Table points table.

Joe Root's Future As England Captain In Doubt After West Indies Rout: Report

Joe Root may be "passionate" about remaining as England's Test captain but should he stay in the post after the West Indies inflicted the latest damaging defeat of his tenure? In January, the 31-year-old star batter insisted he wanted to begin the process of helping rebuild England's red-ball fortunes by continuing to lead the team in the Caribbean following their humiliating 4-0 Ashes series loss in Australia. But a thumping 10-wicket defeat in the third and final Test against the West Indies in Grenada on Sunday condemned England to a 1-0 series loss after two draws.

World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table After West Indies' 3rd Test Win vs England In Grenada

West Indies men's cricket team thrashed England by 10 wickets in the final Test match played at the National Cricket Stadium, St George's in Grenada to clinch the three-match series 1-0. The emphatic win also helped West Indies jump one place in the updated ICC World Test Championship points table to be ranked seventh. On the other end, England suffered consequences at the back of another series defeat as they now occupy the bottom-most place with only one win in 13 Tests played in this WTC cycle so far. West Indies currently hold the seventh place with two wins in seven Test played.

WI vs ENG: West Indies Thrash England By 10 Wickets In 3rd Test To Win Series 1-0

West Indies crushed England by 10 wickets to win the third Test and claim the three-match series on Sunday. Set just 28 for victory after dismissing the tourists for 120 in their second innings, openers Kraigg Brathwaite (20) and John Campbell (6) knocked off the runs inside five overs. The first two Tests in Antigua and Barbados had ended in tame draws. England were dismissed for 204 in their first innings while West Indies made 297.

Kevin Pietersen, Michael Vaughan Slam England After Poor Batting Performance Against West Indies

England entered the three-match series against the West Indies with a hope of rekindling their fortunes in the longest format of the game. England's interim men's director of Cricket Andrew Strauss made some changes and it saw seasoned pros James Anderson and Stuart Broad being dropped for the series against the West Indies. However, batting collapses are following England wherever they go and in the ongoing last Test of the series, the wheels came off for Joe Root and co. A poor batting performance has left England staring at a series defeat.
