"If The Team Needs Me...": Cheteshwar Pujara's Big Claim On India's Upcoming England Tour

Cheteshwar Pujara hasn't played for India since the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in June 2023. India's Test team passed through a lean phase and could not make a place in this year's WTC final. Speaking about India's England tour starting next month, Pujara said he would grab the opportunity if it comes his way. "If the team needs and I get the opportunity, I am prepared from my end. I have been working on my physical fitness, performing well in the country and domestic tournaments. Team India has been quite competitive, but has not won a series in England for around 20 years now, so given an opportunity, I would like to give the best from my end and grab the opportunity if the team needs me. This would be the perfect opportunity to contribute when a win is much needed in England," Pujara told Boria Majumdar on 'Backstage with Boria' season 6

Ravi Shastri Urges BCCI Selectors To Consider In-Form IPL Star For England Tests

Former head coach Ravi Shastri sees young Sai Sudharsan an all-format batter, who deserves to be in the India side for the Test series against England later this year. India will start the new World Test Championship cycle (2025-2027) with an away five-Test series in England with all eyes on the squad selection following their 0-3 loss to New Zealand at home and a 1-3 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Tests. Shastri says Sudharsan, currently second on the list of highest IPL run-getters so far this season with 456 runs for Gujarat Titans, is a classy left-hander who will do well in English conditions given his technique and his county stint.

India's Squad For England Tour: Rohit Sharma To Lead, Two IPL Stars Set To Return For Tests: Report

Rohit Sharma is all set to captain the Indian cricket team in the upcoming Test series against England with the BCCI shortlisting around 35 players fro the tour, according to a report by Times Of India. While there was some speculation over Rohit's position following the series loss against Australia, he is expected to stay as captain. The report also claimed that the selectors are keen to find a steady middle-order batter who can No. 5 or 6 with Karun Nair and Devdutt Padikkal being the top contenders. England Cricket Team Eyes Tim Southee As Pace Consultant For Home Summer

England are reportedly considering former New Zealand pacer Tim Southee as their fast-bowling consultant ahead of a home summer season that includes a marquee five-Test series against India. The 36-year-old is one of the contenders to replace veteran pacer James Anderson, who took up the role after retiring from Test cricket last year but is unavailable this summer due to playing commitments with county side Lancashire. Southee had called time on his red-ball career in December, finishing with 391 Test wickets, second only to Sir Richard Hadlee on 431.

"Means Business Game After Game": Ravi Shastri Backs Ignored India Star To Make Comeback During England Tests

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri believes the fit-again pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will be lethal for England batters in the upcoming five-match Test series starting in June. India faced challenges in that series due to the unavailability of their pace attack, as both Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah dealt with injury setbacks. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, who had struggled during the Border-Gavaskar series, was omitted from the squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli To Be Dropped For England Tests? Chris Gayle Says "Don't Push Them..."

West Indies cricket icon Chris Gayle backed star Indian batting pair Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to continue in Tests during the tour to England, saying the longer they are around, the better for the cricketing world. Gayle was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the second season of the Pro Cricket League, in which he will play for Ghaziabad Bhawani Tigers. Speaking to ANI about the celebrated pair of batters, who have caught flak for their poor Test returns, Gayle said, "Of course they are still going, these guys still have a lot of cricket in them. Don't push them out. The cricketing world needs those guys as much as possible. It is great to have them around still. They still bring a lot of value to international cricket. There is always going to be someone after, but the longer they are around, the better it is for the cricketing world."
