‘If it’s hard for a European rider, it’s harder for us’ - Eritrea's Biniam Girmay, knocking down walls in cycling

There has perhaps never been an African cyclist more likely to succeed than Biniam Girmay, introduced on The Cycling Show as “the boy from Asmara, the hope for an entire continent”. After clocking up some eye-catching results for ProContinental outfit, Delko, the 21-year-old signed for Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert Materiaux in September last year. IPL 2022: Our aim is to reclaim IPL title after 13 years, says Jos Buttler

Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler on Wednesday asserted they have the requisite wherewithal and firepower to end a 13-year-long title drought in the Indian Premier League, beginning here on Saturday. Buttler, who has been retained by inaugural IPL champions alongside skipper Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, said he is fresh, re-energised after the injury-forced break and is desperate to contribute to the team's goal this year. "It's a really exciting time for the team you know, to start a new cycle and build a new team. The aim here is to win the IPL, and I can't wait to contribute to that," Buttler said in a RR release. "We are delighted to have so many great players in the squad. Obviously, (Ravichandran) Ashwin and (Yuzvendra) Chahal are two of the best spinners in the world, and with a great pace attack, I think it's really exciting.

Revenue generated from IPL goes back into the game, says BCCI secretary Jay Shah

IPL media rights tender likely next weekMUMBAI: For the third time in 15 years, the coveted media rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) will go on sale. The BCCI is ready with the Invitation-To-Tender (ITT) for the 2023-27 cycle and is likely to bring it out next week. "Transparency" remains the keyword in the entire process and to ensure the same, the BCCI has gone ahead and decided to conduct an e-auction. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is overseeing the entire process, says he has little doubt the game's hottest property anywhere in the world will once again justify its ability to attract top-dollar in the India market, and globally. "Doing our best to acquire the justified value that a brand like IPL warrants is definitely on top of my mind. At the same time, we will also maintain complete transparency and that is one of the reasons why the media rights will be awarded through an e-auction," Shah told TOI this week. "You can gauge the popularity of the league and the confidence of the investors from the interest it generated and the valuation that the two teams attracted".
