In a statement, the SAI stated that the allegations of “inappropriate behaviour” against the track sprint team’s head coach have been found to be “true” – as levelled by the complainant cyclist – by the committee. “The SAI had constituted an inquiry committee to hear the case of a national level cyclist’s complaint against a coach of inappropriate behaviour during a foreign exposure trip in Slovenia which was organised by the Cycling Federation of India (CFI).
The Sports Authority of India on Wednesday terminated the contract of national cycling coach RK Sharma, with immediate effect, after a committee found allegations of inappropriate behaviour, against him, to be true. According to the complaint filed by a woman cyclist, Sharma forced himself into her room and harassed the cyclist on May 29, during the team's tour of Slovenia.
