Former Indian cricket team opener Wasim Jaffer posted a hilarious video on social media following the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)'s decision to include a reserve day for the India-Pakistan Super 4 game in Asia Cup 2023. The move did not go down well with social media users as that was the only game that was given a reserve day after the group stage match between the two teams was abandoned due to rain. Jaffer took to X formerly known as Twitter sharing a scene from Bollywood movie 'Hum Saath Saath Hai' and reflecting on the situation of all four teams.
Ahead of his side's Asia Cup Super Four clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, Indian batter Shubman Gill said on Saturday that not playing against a quality Pakistani bowling attack has proved to be a reason why Men in Blue are struggling to take on them at times. India will take on Pakistan in their Super Four Asia Cup clash at Colombo on Sunday. Talking about India's struggles with Pakistan's left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, Gill said in a pre-match press conference, "When you are playing at this level, you play left-armer pacers previously at some point of your career. We do not play Pakistan that much as compared to the other sides. They have a quality bowling attack. When you do not face such a bowling attack frequently and are not used to it, it makes a difference."
Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has questioned the exclusion of "left-arm pacer" Arshdeep Singh in the 15-man preliminary squad for the World Cup. Arshdeep made his debut with the Indian team last year, but has been in and out of the squad since then. He was recently part of the of the team for the white-ball tours of West Indies and Ireland, but was left of the Asia Cup squad, as well as the preliminary World Cup team. Arun hailed Arshdeep and was surprised over his exclusion from the squad.

India's 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup was announced on Tuesday with skipper Rohit Sharma and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, unveiling the names. The likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah were included in the team while leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and pacer Prasidh Krishna missing out. However, the exclusion of Shikhar Dhawan disappointed everyone as for the first time in 10 years, the opening batter will be missing out on an ODI event of ICC. Despite his snub from the team, the Delhi-born cricketer seems to have a positive outlook towards life.
Pakistan pace ace Shaheen Shah Afridi has warned his devastating spell against arch-rivals India that set the Asia Cup alight is just the start, with the World Cup only weeks away. The left-arm fast bowler rattled the Indian top-order in their Group A clash last week, taking 4-35 -- including the wickets of star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. That match was washed out but they meet again in Colombo on Sunday in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, a precursor to the 50-over World Cup that kicks off next month. And Shaheen told AFP there is more to come.
Joe McCarthy isn't a World Cup bolter in the traditional sense, but in a squad as settled as Andy Farrell’s, he’s as close to a bolter as you could be.
