A strange turn of events sees the Indian team playing their second match of the Super 4 stage in the Asia Cup in less than 24 hours. After completing a comprehensive victory over Pakistan on Monday night, India will be up against Sri Lanka in a match, starting 3:00 PM in Colombo. While changing the winning combination might not be ideal, the fact that the players will be playing without a single day's breather, the team management might decide to bench one or two players in order to keep the team fresh for the remainder of the campaign, and the forthcoming ODI World Cup.
Just a day after hammering Pakistan a whopping 228 runs, India take on Sri Lanka in their second match of the Asia Cup Super 4 stage. The Pakistan contest was to be finished on Sunday but rain forced the authorities to add a reserve day for the fixture. On Monday, it was the Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav show that helped India secure a thumping victory over their arch-rivals in Colombo. And, less than 24 hours from the conclusion of the Pakistan match, India will be up against the Lankans. Sri Lanka already have a win under their belt, having beaten Bangladesh in their first Super 4 match. Being the 'home' side, the Lankans would be eager to put on a show and get the better of Rohit Sharma's men, especially considering they won the Asia Cup last year by overcoming similar obstacles.
Within minutes of winning a historic World Cup, Spain put in jeopardy their candidacy for hosting another. After an extraordinary three weeks, in which the former president of the country’s football federation, Luis Rubiales, inflicted huge damage on the reputation of the sport, his resignation, late on Sunday, has been greeted with wide relief and framed as a necessary step in bringing the 2030 men’s World Cup to Europe and North Africa.
After winning the Player of the Match award for his 94-ball 122 knock, India's batting talisman Virat Kohli stated that he is prepared to return to the pitch on Tuesday and added that playing Test cricket will aid his recovery and enable him to play for a third straight day. Just like several of Kohli's previous knocks, this outstanding century against one of his favourite opponents Pakistan came with its share of remarkable records. Kohli went from 50 off 55 balls to an unbeaten 122 in 94 balls, smashing 72 runs off his last 39 balls to lift India to a tall total in the rain-interrupted Asia Cup Super Four clash against Pakistan. Batting alongside KL Rahul, Kohli was in top form as the duo dominated Pakistan's bowling attack.
Pakistan cricket team batter Agha Salman sustained an injury that left his face bloodied during the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match against India on Monday. The right-handed batter tried to sweep a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja but the ball bounced and took the top edge of his bat before hitting him straight on the face. He was visibly in pain after the incident and the wound started bleeding as the Pakistan physio rushed onto the field. KL Rahul was one of the first ones on the field to quickly check on him after the incident and his gesture has quickly gone viral on social media following the incident.
It was a special performance from star batter Virat Kohli as he slammed his 47th ODI century to guide the Indian cricket team to a massive win over Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match on Monday. Kohli, who scored 122 off just 94 deliveries, stitched together a record partnership with KL Rahul to take his side to a mammoth total of 356 for the loss of two wickets. Kohli's wife - Bollywood actress and producer Anushka Sharma - was all praise for the star batter as she took to social media to post a special four-worded post.
