Till the 89th minute, CFC looked headed for a defeat but a thumping header by German forward Julius Duker turned things around for Thomas Brdaric’s men. But that was just the beginning of the drama. Eight minutes were added on by the referee and a stunning long-ranger from Edwin Vanspaul in the 90+4th minute made it 2-1 for CFC, sparking celebration in the CFC ranks. It was, however, short-lived as Army Red’s indefatigable forward Liton Shil took full advantage of a defensive lapse to score a late equalizer. Chennaiyin played eight new signings — local lad Ajith Kumar, Duker, Fallou Diagne, Jockson Dhas, Sajal Bag, Jiteshwor Singh, Aakash Sangwan and Sliskovic. The game looked evenly poised in the first-half as both teams looked desperate to find the target but their efforts went in vain. Though Chennaiyin created a few genuine chances, the forwards and the midfielders failed to combine when it mattered.
