There arguably isn't a cricketing contest that can match the hype of an India vs Pakistan match. Much like the T20 World Cup 2021, India and Pakistan will kick-off their respective campaigns in the 2022 edition of the tournament in Australia. Though a lot has been said and written about the Indo-Pak clash ahead of the October 23 showdown, the perspective of players towards this match remains a little different. Yuzvendra Chahal, one of the finest spinners in the game at the moment, has highlighted the importance of not thinking too much about this contest.
Lionel Messi’s latest, and likely last, assault on the World Cup has garnered a Middle Eastern flavor.
It has been a smooth ride for the mighty Indian team so far and the trend is expected to continue when the sub-continent powerhouse aim to crush minnows Thailand one more time in the Women's Asia Cup semifinal here on Thursday. The last match between two teams had turned out to be a huge mismatch as India had skittled Thailand out for just 37 runs in 15.1 overs to run away with an easy win during the league stage. Thailand would look to do better than their previous batting effort against India after making the Asia Cup semi-final entry for the first time at the expense of hosts defending champions Bangladesh.

South Africa have named Marco Jansen as the replacement for all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius in the T20 World Cup squad after the player sustained an injury and was ruled out of the tournament. Pretorious, who played a pivotal role for South Africa with both bat and ball in recent years, will miss the T20 World Cup after breaking his left thumb during the recent T20 International series against India. Initially included in the reserves, Marco Jansen has been named as a replacement in the 15-player squad that will fly to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup due to a back injury. Chahar, who was among the stand-by players, was expected to make the main squad in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah but it is understood that his back injury will take time to heal. Pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur will now join the Indian team in Australia, ahead of the team's first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23.
Chahar, who was among the stand-by players, was expected to make the main squad in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah but it is understood that his back injury will take time to heal. "Deepak will take some time to get fit. His back issue has flared up again. His ankle is fine and there wasn't any problem there. So BCCI is sending three reinforcements. Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur," a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity. Chahar had competed in the T20 series against South Africa but developed a back issue and was forced to skip the ODI series. He reported to National Cricket Academu (NCA) for rehabilitation.
