From being rolled on mats to Tubby's triple-treat, Pakistan has polarised Australia's cricketers.
The wait is finally over as the Australia cricket team on Sunday arrived in Islamabad ahead of their first tour of Pakistan in 24 years. To mark this historic occasion, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took to social media and welcomed the visiting team, led by Test captain Pat Cummins. Australia last toured Pakistan in 1998, and won the three-match Test series 1-0. "Welcome @patcummins30 Great to have you and the Australian side here," PCB captioned a photo of Cummins on Twitter.
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Australia players are feeling "incredibly safe" after arriving for their first tour of Pakistan in 24 years and raring to dish out their aggressive brand of cricket, test captain Pat Cummins said on Sunday.
Australia players are feeling "incredibly safe" after arriving for their first tour of Pakistan in 24 years and raring to dish out their aggressive brand of cricket, Test captain Pat Cummins said on Sunday. Top teams have shunned Pakistan since gunmen attacked a visiting Sri Lanka team in Lahore in 2009 and a heavy security dragnet has been thrown around Australia's six-week tour beginning with the first Test in Rawalpindi on March 4. "I feel incredibly safe," Cummins, on his first overseas tour since taking over the Test captaincy, told a virtual news conference. "We've been really well looked after by the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board). Upon arrival there's been lots of security. We were straight off the plane and straight to the hotel. "We've got a pretty good set-up here and we'll be confined to the hotel except for games and training."
Test captain Pat Cummins says he has not spoken with Cricket Australia (CA) about the process of appointing a new men's head coach following Justin Langer's resignation earlier this month.
Australia Test skipper Pat Cummins has said that the "reality" of having a really strong squad is that a couple of guys will always miss out on Test matches. Cummins's remark comes as Australia gets ready to lock horns with Pakistan in a three-match Test series, beginning March 4. "In terms of the fast bowlers, Scotty Boland has just had a fantastic summer, Josh Hazlewood and Starc are superstars, so already one of those is going to miss, you would expect," ESPNcricinfo quoted Cummins as saying.
Australia will begin their first overseas Test tour in little over two-and-a-half years when they take on Pakistan from March 4th in the first Test in Rawalpindi. This is Australia's first tour of the Asian country since 1998, although Pakistan has hosted Australia in the UAE in the past two decades. The Aussies will have a tough task on hand against a rejuvenated Pakistan side, which has seen the rise of new stars and talented cricketers over the past couple of years and are once again a force to reckon with across all formats under the able leadership of star batter Babar Azam.
MELBOURNE : Australia captain Pat Cummins believes his Ashes-winning team will have to alter their approach and be prepared to grind out success on their first tour of Pakistan in 24 years.
