World Cup hopeful Conor Gallagher will get plenty of chances to impress Gareth Southgate in October, promised new Chelsea boss Graham Potter.
Saturday's Premier League saw plenty of action, with two London derbies and Brighton's thrilling draw at Liverpool. In the North London Derby, Arsenal comfortably saw off Tottenham Hotspur, and surprisingly, it was Chelsea's comeback win against Crystal Palace that proved to be a more tightly contested affair. In both the matches, fans were treated to some spectacular goals. At the Emirates, Thomas Partey hit a brilliant first-touch shot from outside the box that beat Hugo Lloris to give Arsenal the lead. At Selhurst Park, Conor Gallagher was the hero for Chelsea, as he hit a long-range stunner to give manager Graham Potter his first win at his new club.
LONDON : Conor Gallagher celebrated his first goal for Chelsea, a sumptuous winner in the dying moments of Saturday's London derby against Crystal Palace - the club he played for on loan last season and whose fans applauded him off the pitch.
JOHANNESBURG: Algeria football boss Zefizef Djahid said on Saturday his country will bid to stage the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after original choice Guinea were stripped of the hosting rights. Speaking during the African Nations Championship (CHAN) draw ceremony at an Algiers opera house, he announced that “Algeria will be candidates to host the 2025 AFCON.” On Saturday, Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe said Guinea would not host the 2025 edition because they were “not ready to do so.” The west African country, one of the poorest in the continent, has currently only one international-standard stadium, and Cup of Nations require six.
Arsenal underlined their credentials as genuine Premier League title contenders with a 3-1 win over arch rivals Tottenham, while Chelsea's dramatic 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace gave Graham Potter his first success as Blues boss on Saturday. As the Premier League returned with a bang after the international break, Liverpool were rocked by Brighton forward Leandro Trossard's hat-trick in a 3-3 draw at Anfield. But it was Arsenal who stole the spotlight as Mikel Arteta's side made it seven wins from eight league games, moving them four points clear at the top of the table.
Conor Gallagher marked his return to Selhurst Park with a last-minute winner in Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
