After a total of 83 players went under the hammer on Day 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, nearly 500 players are set to find out what fate has in store for them on Monday. The Day 2 unfolds with some capped batters being put up for auction, including the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Phillips, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, etc.
After the third day of the Perth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), star India youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal heaped praise on talisman batter Virat Kohli and said that he is "incredible". With a Test century after around 500 days, Virat finally roared back to the form in a territory where he thrives the most, Australia, breaking several records and adding plenty to his legacy as a visiting batter. During the match, Virat scored an unbeaten 100 in 143 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. His runs came at strike rate of 69.93. Former Indian bowler Vinay Kumar hit back at former batter and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar for disrespectul remarks on commentary during the first Test between India and Australia at Perth, saying that "he takes pride in his bowling". Vinay's comments came after Manjrekar made allegedly disrespectul comments on medium pacers during the Perth Test. During the commentary, Manjrekar was talking about development of fast bowlers in India over the years and how the level of grass on pitch was regulated on domestic level.

India's iconic cricketer, Virat Kohli, stormed back to form with a blistering half-century on Day 3 of the first Test against Australia in Perth. Kohli came onto the field after the departure of Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli then forged a partnership of 38 runs with Jaiswal before the latter was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh. India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant pipped Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 crore) to become the costliest buy in IPL's history with a Rs 27 crore winning bid from Lucknow Super Giants, while Venkatesh Iyer was the surprise show-stopper as he was bought back for Rs 23.75 crore by his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. Teams spent a total sum of Rs 467.95 crore on Day 1.
Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting rolled the dice and it was Shreyas Iyer's turn to fetch the big bucks from the franchise, not Rishabh Pant's.
