The International Cricket Council will meet virtually on November 29 to finalise the much-delayed schedule of the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in February-March next year. The cause of the delay has been India's refusal to play in Pakistan.
Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar shared his excitement and thoughts after being acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) for a staggering Rs 9.25 crore. Reflecting on his move from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to MI, Chahar remarked in an exclusive interview with JioCinema, "I'm quite happy. I had hoped to continue with CSK, but no regrets. Now, I'll be playing for another great franchise that has won five IPL trophies. I'll obviously miss playing with MS Dhoni. Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid feels that the franchise would be able to provide 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi with "a good environment" for his upcoming stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The eighth standard student from Bihar's Samastipur was picked up by the franchise for Rs. 1.10 crore, making him the youngest cricketer to earn an IPL contract. "I think he's (Suryavanshi) got some really good skills, so we thought it might be a good environment for him to grow in. Vaibhav just came to our trials and we were really happy with what he saw," said Dravid in an IPL video.
Sri Lanka's A team will return home midway from their ongoing series against Pakistan Shaheens due to intense political protests in Islamabad. The PCB confirmed on Tuesday that following consultation with the Sri Lankan board, it has postponed the last two 50-over matches between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka A. The postponed matches were scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi on Wednesday and Friday after Pakistan Shaheens beat the visitors by 108 runs in the first game in Islamabad on Monday.
Saim Ayub struck an unbeaten 113 as Pakistan crushed Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in Bulawayo on Tuesday to level a one-day international series with one match to come. Zimbabwe were all out for 145 at Queens Sports Club as they sought a second victory over the tourists in three days having won by 80 runs in a rain-shortened tour opener. Pakistan then atoned for a poor batting show on Sunday with Ayub and fellow opener Abdullah Shafique (32 not out) unstoppable as they reached their target in 18.2 overs. Ayub struck 17 runs and three sixes off 62 balls in a 75-minute stand while Shafique claimed four fours in the southern city. Ayub reached his century off 53 balls -- the second fastest in an ODI international by a Pakistani after Shahid Afridi.
