Amid concerns over its readiness, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium is "ready to host the ICC Champions Trophy". On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a sneak-peek of the newly-renovated facility in Lahore. The iconic venue is undergoing its biggest state-of-the-art upgrades since the 1996 World Cup, which Pakistan co-hosted alongside India and Sri Lanka. The stadium, which is set to host at least four matches as of now, will feature a deep moat, separating the stands and ground, to prevent pitch invasion.

Abhishek Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief as India smashed their highest-ever score in the powerplay in the format, 95 runs at the loss of one wicket. Boundaries were flowing all-around the park, thanks to terrific hitting from Abhishek as he reached his fifty in only 17 balls. By the end of powerplay, the southpaw reached the score of 58 off only 21 balls. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma scored 19 off 8 balls and Sanju Samson, who was dismissed in the powerplay, hit 16 off 7 balls during the first six overs of India's play.

England captain Jos Buttler has taken a harsh dig at the Indian cricket team following the concussion substitute controversy in the fourth T20I in Pune. India all-rounder Shivam Dube got hit on his helmet on the penultimate delivery of the hosts' innings. He was checked by the physio before continuing to bat. Dube got run out on the very next ball which also happened to be the final ball of the Indian innings. During the innings break, the all-rounder was replaced by pacer Harshit Rana as a concussion substitute. The move sparked a huge debate as ICC rules state that a concussion substitute has to be a like-for-like replacement.
