Australian cricket legend Shane Warne dies aged 52
Australia captain Ricky Ponting "loves" Shane Warne so much that he tends to switch off his television set on hearing the late spin king's voice in it in the past couple of days as he still can't believe that his one-time teammate is no more. In an emotional tribute to Warne with whom he played for much of his 15-year international career, Ponting said he is still struggling to comprehend the unexpected death of his close friend.
Shane Warne's state funeral will be held at the iconic MCG in front of an expected crowd of 100,000 people in a fitting farewell to the Australian spin king in the next two to three weeks, according to reports. The public memorial will be held after Warne's family mourn him at a private service. Warne's manager James Erskine did not confirm MCG as the venue for the state funeral but hinted that no other stadium would be an appropriate one considering the stature of the legendary Australian. "But where else?" Erskine told 'The Age'.
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting looked extremely emotional and almost broke down in the middle of an interview for the International Cricket Council (ICC), as he spoke about, and paid tribute to, his former teammate and great friend Shane Warne, who passed away recently in Thailand, aged 52, due to a "suspected heart attack".
West Indies and England cricket greats Viv Richards and Ian Botham unveiled the design of the Richards-Botham trophy on Monday, ahead of England's three-test series against West Indies.

According to 'Herald Sun', the state funeral is likely to be held within two or three weeks, which would overlap with the Australian Rules Football League (AFL) season, but the MCG “will make all necessary arrangements to accommodate the service”.
Viv Richards and Ian Botham unveiled the design of the Richards-Botham trophy on Monday, ahead of England's three-Test series against West Indies. The title honours West Indies batting great Richards, who scored more than 8,500 runs in a 121-Test career, and England all-rounder Botham, who recorded more than 5,000 runs and took 383 wickets in 102 Tests appearances. "It has an ultra-modern design and consists of an upside-down cup, based on a Georgian rummer, with the joining sphere a cricket ball," Cricket West Indies (CWI) said in a statement.
