India demolished Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. India won the toss and dominated the match from the outset. Rohit Sharma got India off to a fast start but was dismissed for 29 off 28 balls while attempting a pull shot. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said that while the pull might be a productive shot for Rohit, he should put it in "cold storage" till he reaches a big enough score.

Ross Taylor To Play For New Zealand XI Against Netherlands Ahead Of His Final ODI Series

Retiring Blackcaps great Ross Taylor will feature for the New Zealand XI against the Netherlands in Napier next week as he looks to get some game-time ahead of his final One Day International series later this month. Having been ruled out of today's Plunket Shield match for the Central Stags as a Covid-19 'household contact', Taylor will turn out against the touring Dutch at McLean Park in the second one-day warm-up match on March 19 as well as the one-off T20 on the evening of the 21st. India vs Sri Lanka 2022, 2nd Test: Will Virat Kohli's wait for elusive 71st international ton end at Chinnaswamy?

Virat Kohli would hope for a turnaround at his 'spiritual home' when India take on an under-prepared Sri Lanka in the second Test, with the action unfolding under flood lights from Saturday. Interestingly, the last time Kohli reached a three-figure mark, it was a 'Pink Ball' game in which India thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in Kolkata, back in November 2019. He had scored 136 back then. The former India skipper has taken strike in 28 innings since then but a Test hundred has remained elusive. The 33-year-old has got a 50-plus score only six times with highest being a knock of 79 against South Africa in Cape Town in January this year.

After the first Test against Australia ended in a draw in Rawalpindi, Pakistan are gearing up for the second Test at the National Stadium in Karachi. Meanwhile, the batter who was facing him tried to scoop Shaheen's delivery over the leg side but ended up missing it.
