Yuzvendra Chahal, who will be seen playing in the Rajasthan Royals jersey this IPL season. Chahal, who was with the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise from 2014 to 2021, was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 6.5 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction. In many ways it is a homecoming for Chahal, who was part of the Royals squad in 2010, but didn't get a single game. The two new Indian Premier League (IPL) teams -- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) -- will begin their IPL journey against one another at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. LSG will be captained by KL Rahul while Hardik Pandya will lead GT as both teams will look to begin their season with a win under their belt. LSG could very well open with a deadly combination of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock while the likes of Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda can lend much-needed support in the middle-order. Andrew Tye and Avesh Khan can form a lethal fast bowling pair and trouble the GT batters.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah came into the limelight early in his career through incredible performances for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI). However, things could have turned out to be a bit different for Bumrah. Former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Parthiv Patel, in a chat with Virender Sehwag on Cricbuzz, praised Bumrah and explained his rise in domestic and international cricket, which was full of hardships and challenges.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper Bhanuka Rajapaksa called his team's victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as a 'confidence booster'. PBKS scored 208/5 in 19 overs in reply to RCB's 205/2 to register a five-wicket win in Match-3 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, played here at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday. "What we thought was that we'd just have a free hit. Shikhar wanted me to be aggressive although I had just come out to the middle. I knew how Hasaranga bowls. It was about knowing him and playing him for the last 4-5 years now. I bought my local knowledge and it worked. This win is a huge confidence booster," said Rajapaksa in a post-match presentation.
Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh's availability for IPL side Delhi Capitals this season was on Monday rendered doubtful after he suffered a hip flexor injury which has all but ruled him out of the upcoming ODI series in Pakistan. Marsh, who was bought for Rs 6.5 crore in the IPL mega auction, was to join Delhi Capitals on April 6 after the end of Pakistan white-ball series but his availability will now depend on the degree of his injury. Australia ODI captain Aaron Finch said on Monday that Marsh's scans has been sent for examination after he sustained the injury during a high-intensity fielding drill on Sunday.
