Pat Cummins's whirlwind knock against Mumbai Indians that kicked up a storm at the MCA Stadium in Pune yet, please go and watch every second of it. It won't take you too long - after all it was just 15 balls. And yet the impact that it made is something that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
Mumbai Indians have endured a torrid start to the season, losing three games in a row and the team's head coach Mahela Jayawardene feels the five-time IPL champions need to adopt a ruthless attitude to finish off games. A lacklustre MI lost by five wickets to Kolkata Knight Riders here on Wednesday night to slump to their third consecutive defeat of the season. The Rohit Sharma-led side had lost to Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals in its opening two games.
It is a perfect homecoming for Australian opener David Warner as he returns to the franchise with whom he started his IPL career -- Delhi Capitals. The opening batter is expected to play his first match of IPL 2022 against the Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday. The T20 World Cup-winning player will hope for a good showing with the bat for the Delhi Capitals and he would look to give the Rishabh Pant-led side their second win of the ongoing season. Ahead of the game against LSG, Warner said that he is excited to join the Delhi camp once again.
Former Team India player Virender Sehwag faced slack for his 'Vada Pav' tweet which he posted after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) thanks to Pat Cummins' belligerent innings. Sehwag, in his own witty fashion, remarked "Moonh se nivala cheen liya ,, sorry vada pav cheen liya. Pat Cummins, one of the most insane displays of clean hitting , 15 ball 56 ... Jeera Batti," after Pat Cummins played a stupendous knock of 56 runs off 15 balls to help his team script a memorable win on Wednesday. This tweet apparently didn't go down well with MI or Rohit fans and Sehwag had to clear his stance regarding the issue.
Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Pat Cummins put on a stunning assault with the bat against Mumbai Indians, turning a close chase into an easy victory in the space of a single over. Cummins hit Daniel Sams for 35 runs in the 16th over of the match to take his team to victory on Wednesday, hitting the joint-fastest half-century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the process. Cummins came in to bat with KKR needing 61 runs off 41 deliveries with five wickets in hand. It is not the easiest of prospects and the match looked like it was headed for a tense finish, but the Australia Test captain had other plans.
Kolkata Knight Riders batter Nitish Rana has been reprimanded and fined 10 per cent of his match fees for a level 1 offence during his team's IPLmatch against Mumbai Indians. Senior MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been let off with a reprimand for breaching the code of conduct during the same game, which KKR won by five wickets on Wednesday. The IPL press release, however, doesn't exactly specify the breach.
Alana King was rewarded for her part in Australia's women's Ashes and World Cup triumphs with her first central contract when the list of 15 players was announced on Thursday. King stepped in for the injured Georgia Wareham and played in every match of the multi-format Ashes series and the 50-overs World Cup, which concluded with Australia's win over England in the final last Sunday.
